What is Agnitum?
Agnitum is a PC security software company. It was founded by two students in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1999. 1 From its beginning, Agnitum has been creating high-quality products that received widespread positive reviews.
Two of Agnitum's first products, Tauscan and Jammer, focused on blocking attacks from hackers. Their later products have been largely based on these initial two successes, and have been updated and developed to meet current technology needs. Agnitum attracts customers from all over the world, offering its website in English, Russian, German, Polish, and Magyar.
Products Offered by Agnitum
Agnitum's focus has shifted mostly to creating personal computer firewalls. It seems that they are known primarily for their home computer firewalls in the U.S. Agnitum currently offers four security packages: Outpost Firewall PRO, Outpost Security Suite PRO, Outpost Antivirus PRO, and Outpost Network Security. Agnitum also offers a product called Spam Terrier, a free download that helps filter spam from your email inbox.

What is Outpost Antivirus PRO?
Outpost Antivirus PRO is an antivirus software created by Russian security developer Agnitum. It is noted for its ability to protect from subtle security threats such as zero-day attacks and other sneaky versions of malware. Reviewers have given this product a lukewarm reception, saying that it performs pretty well but that there seem to be a lot of irrelevant pop-ups.1
You can try a 30-day free trial of Outpost Antivirus before purchasing the yearly subscription.2
Note that you should not install Outpost Antivirus onto a computer that is already running Outpost Firewall PRO or Outpost Security Suite.

They liked the email scans, behavior-based security, private data protection, and how it installed on malware infested systems. They didn't like the web control feature (it missed malicious sites), the malware removal, and all the pop-ups generated from the behavior-based security.

Outpost Firewall FREE is a free product made by the Russian security company Agnitum. The company offers several other products for a yearly subscription price; the paid-for products are more comprehensive than the free download, but many reviewers still seem to think Agnitum's Outpost FREE is a high-quality firewall.
How Does Outpost FREE Stack Up?
The lack of technical support could be a frustration, but the lack of multi-language support shouldn't be a concern for most of us in the U.S. (most Agnitum products are targeted at an international audience and offer support in everything from German to Magyar). The free version's lack of antispyware protection might be a weakness, but most firewalls don't come with antispyware protection anyway. There are lots of good free antispyware products available for download (that you could potentially pair with a firewall program).
Outpost Firewall PRO
What is Outpost Firewall PRO?
Outpost Firewall PRO is a firewall made by Russian security company Agnitum. Outpost does all that a traditional firewall does—withstanding keyloggers, packet sniffers, and so forth—and also has a powerful antispyware component that prevents third-party ads from harvesting personal info from your computer. Outpost protects you from outside threats as well as from LAN (local area network) threats—such as precocious kids who try to break firewall passwords, malicious users within your wifi network, and so on. 1
Outpost is also able to detect and destroy malware rather than simply preventing bad things from happening to your system. Outpost can also be run in a "background mode" that allows you to use games and other full-screen applications without interference from firewall alerts. And Outpost updates itself hourly, so you don't need to worry about its getting outdated or behind.

Outpost Firewall PRO requires you to buy a subscription. A discounted price is available if you purchase the product for multiple computers. You may be interested in a less comprehensive firewall also made by Agnitum, Outpost Firewall FREE. Though it doesn't have as good or as many features as PRO does, it still offers some of the same benefits.

What is Outpost Network Security?
Outpost Network Security is a product made by the Russian security company Agnitum. Agnitum is best known for its personal firewalls, Outpost Firewall PRO and the simpler freeware offering Outpost Firewall FREE. This is Agnitum's first and only package so far that is not targeted primarily for private, at-home computer use. Outpost Network is intended for small to medium businesses and organizations. It can be purchased by yearly subscription, and pricing is based on how many users are on the protected network. Different pricing is available for an educational license; nonprofit educational and charity organizations qualify for these discounted rates.

Outpost Security Suite PRO
What is Outpost Security Suite PRO?
Outpost Security Suite PRO is a security software package made by the Russian security Agnitum. You can purchase a yearly subscription or you can download a free 30-day trial to try out the software. Agnitum's site says that the package consists of a firewall, a combined antispyware and antivirus system, host protection, Web control, and a spam blocker.
Reviewers seem to give the firewall component of the suite a glowing report but say that other features could be improved. It also sounds like Outpost Security Suite is great to install on malware-free computers as a preventative measure, but that you will have trouble installing it on an already-infected system.

What is Spam Terrier?
Spam Terrier is a free product offered by the Russian security company Agnitum. Once you download the free software, it will filter spam emails from your inbox, saving you space and time. Having a spam filter like this one is also important because it prevents you from receiving malicious emails that link to sites loaded with malware or pornography. Spam Terrier is available for computers running Windows Vista, XP, server 2008. server 2003, and 2000.
But why bother with a product like Spam Terrier if you're using an email provider, like Gmail, that already filters your spam? Though automated spam filters are usually pretty good, programs like these are much more customizable. It can help ensure that emails your computer might mistake for spam get to your inbox, and can make sure that sneaky spam messages that appear legitimate don't leak through.
